5 Easy & Healthy Snacks

It doesn’t matter if you are at work, on the go or relaxing at home – hunger can strike anywhere! It’s what you reach for when your stomach starts growling that makes all the difference. Some people fear healthy snacks as they may not like fruits or veggies, and at times because it’s simply easier to grab something unhealthy. See our favorite easy and healthy snack recipes below and then get snacking!

Popcorn

When done right, popcorn can be a delicious snack that hits the spot for crunchy or salty cravings. Avoid processed or flavored popcorns and buy plain organic corn for popping. Pop in the microwave or over the stove and sprinkle a little bit of sea salt and pepper to taste. In moderation, it’s the perfect midday snack.

Fresh Fruit

This may seem simple, but it is often overlooked. Go to your local farmer’s market and pick out your favorite types of apples, oranges, a bunch of grapes or beautifully ripe strawberries. Most fruits can stay at room temperature at your desk throughout the week as you snack. Having fresh fruit right at your desk makes healthy choices easy and effortless.

Honey Roasted Almonds

Warning! Honey roasted almonds are highly addictive! For those snackers that have a sweet tooth, this is the perfect indulgence. Honey roasted almonds can be bought in most grocery stores, but are also incredibly easy to make. (See our favorite recipe here:http://www.cooks.com/recipe/dy9q58l2/honey-roasted-almonds.html)

Cucumber and Yogurt Dip

If you want a crunch, reach for cucumbers. They are crisp, cool and refreshing. Spice them up with a little bit of sea salt or pair them with a yogurt dip. To make a Greek inspired yogurt dip, start with plain yogurt, add salt, sour cream, lemon juice and some dill. Dark Chocolate

Gasp! Who knew the word CHOCOLATE could sneak its way into a healthy snack blog post?! The secret is that dark chocolate has a lot of health benefits when enjoyed in moderation. Enjoy an ounce or so when you want to indulge. Look for bars that contain 70-85% cocoa for a sweet spot of taste and health benefits.
